Trans Skin Care While on Hormone Replacement Therapy

Caprea beauty is proud supporter of the Trans community. That's why we decided to give them more visibility in our 2023 product campaign.

This is the new face of Caprea: Christina

We asked Christina a few questions to understand and bring awareness to a journey: from her identity change to her Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

What is your skin type?

I tend to have a pretty normal skin type. However, it became dryer and acneic since I started my Hormone Therapy two years ago.

What does self-care mean to you?

Self-care is very important part of my life as it helped me affirming my identity. From a simple hairdresser appointment to wearing clothing that makes me feel confident. Since undergoing Therapy I also started practicing voice and body language exercises to help me feel more at home in my body.

Take us through your nighttime routine

I usually change into my favourite silk sleep robe, remove my makeup and wash my face using Caprea's Sebum Control Wash. I then create a peaceful environment by using my aromatherapy diffuser. I love the smell of bergamot for some reason. I then meditate for ten minutes to help me calm my mind before sleep.

What makes you choose Caprea on top of other skincare brands?

I really connected with Gozde (the founder) who I became close to this year. She really supported me through my journey and I can say that I also opened up her eyes about "trans culture".

Christina and our founder, Gozde.

I have to say that Caprea's products are very multipurpose - and I think that's the main reasons I include most of them on top of my regular routine.

What is your favorite Caprea product?

I'm impressed by the new probiotic range. The Probiotic sleeping mask won me over. A 2 in 1 night cream that moisturizes AND helps you sleep? I mean GIRL please... what's not to like!

Here are our best tips for having glowing skin:

There is no better feeling than finding the perfect mix of skincare products that will make your skin feel and look good.

Due to the effects of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), skin can be significantly affected, especially in ways we never thought possible.

Look out for acne breakouts

For a lot of trans girls, HRT can cause acne breakouts. If yours is very bad, don’t hesitate to contact your doctor and dermatologist. However, cleaning your face thoroughly every day and night will make you avoid clogged pores and extra pimples.

PH BALANCING CLEANSER 2.0

Good sleep = good skin

Don’t underestimate beauty sleep! During sleep, your skin’s blood flow increases, and the organ rebuilds collagen and repairs damage for UV exposure which will reduce wrinkles and age spots.

We recommend

2 in 1 Probiotic Sleeping Mask

Caprea’s Probiotic Sleeping Mask is a 2 in 1 product to help you sleep and moisturizes your skin.

Just apply a thick layer on skin 30 mins before bedtime and wash off thoroughly in the morning. You’ll sleep beautifully thanks to its blend of Rosemary and Lavender oils.

Find it here.

Moisturize correctly

Estrogen can affect the amount of oil your skin produces naturally, which can cause dryness and irritation. Use ingredients like aloe vera.

We recommend
